A Plan Measured Against the Space You Have
A walker needs roughly a metre to turn in.
Carle Place is capes on compact lots, and a fair number of those hallways do not have a metre in them once there is a radiator and a console table. That is not a reason recovery goes badly. It is a reason the plan has to be measured rather than assumed.
Clearances decide what is possible. Which way you turn out of the bedroom, whether you can be assisted on the correct side, whether a walker fits through the bathroom door or stops at it.
A program designed in a clinic assumes room that a compact cape may not have. A program designed in your hallway uses the room you do have, and it is the one you will actually follow.
These are small houses that have usually been added to. Where an upstairs was finished off, the staircase is often steeper and narrower than anything built as a main flight.
That staircase is worth practising as itself — your tread width, your rail, on the side you actually have it — rather than as a general skill.
Carle Place sits between Westbury, Mineola and the Old Country Road retail corridor, so a clinic is never far. The distance was never the problem.
The problem is that the plan has to work in a house nobody at the clinic has seen. An in-home visit measures the space instead of describing the space you ought to have.

You will know the cost before anything is booked. We confirm a visit time that works around your day, explain how payment works, and tell you whether a physician referral will be needed for the length of care you are likely to need.
See Pricing & How Payment Works →Your therapist reviews your symptoms, strength, movement and what your own day actually asks of you.
Follow-up visits happen at home, and the plan progresses as your tolerance and symptoms change.
Almost always, and the small house is a reason for an in-home visit rather than an argument against one. The assessment uses the clearances you actually have instead of assuming clearances you do not.
No. Your therapist brings what the visit needs. If something would genuinely help, you will be told what it is and roughly what it costs before you buy anything — and in a small house, where it will live is part of that conversation.
It is common in capes that were finished off later, and it is workable. The staircase is practised as itself, on your tread width and with the rail on the side you have it, rather than as a generic flight.
You do not need to work that out before you call. Describe what is happening and what you are trying to get back to doing, and we will point you to the right one — or tell you that physical therapy is not the answer.
No. You can begin with a direct evaluation.
New York's direct access provisions allow a licensed physical therapist to evaluate and treat you without a physician referral, for up to 10 visits or 30 days from your first treatment, whichever comes first. If your care should continue beyond that, we will tell you what is needed and help you arrange it.
If Medicare is paying for your care, your plan of care also needs to be signed by your physician, which we help arrange. Neither one holds up your first appointment.
Strength Works PT is credentialed with Medicare and Aetna. Plans differ, so call and we will check yours before anything is booked.
If your plan is not one we bill, or you would rather keep the plan out of it, you can pay for your care directly. Either way you know the cost before the first visit.
