Senior In-Home Personal Training

Strength, Balance and Confidence for Older Adults, in Their Own Home

In-home fitness training for seniors, delivered as part of an ongoing physical therapy plan of care. Your therapist is a licensed physical therapist and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, so the training is built on an evaluation and adjusted as you progress — not a fixed program handed to you.

What this looks like
  • Built on an evaluation, not a fixed program
  • Progress tracked with sit-to-stand, walking speed, balance and grip
  • Designed to carry the plan of care through rather than stop part-way
  • In your own home, on your own stairs
  • If something hurts or you are recovering from surgery, we will tell you what you need first

Physical Therapy Built Around Your Life

Getting to a clinic can be difficult when you are in pain, recovering from surgery, worried about falling, or balancing a busy schedule. Your therapist evaluates how you move in the environment where you actually live, work, climb stairs, sit, stand, walk, and recover. If you are unsure which service is right for you, contact Strength Works PT and we can help you understand the best next step.

One Therapist, Your Whole Session

Every visit is one full hour with your therapist. Not shared with two other patients, and not handed to an aide once the hard part is over.

It happens in your home, which is where the problem actually is. The stairs you have to manage are the stairs we train on, and the chair you struggle out of is the one you practice in.

Appointments run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., so care fits around your work rather than the other way around.

How do I know which physical therapy service I need?

You do not need to know the exact service before contacting us.

Tell us what you are dealing with, and we can help identify the best next step.

Do I need a doctor’s referral to start?

No. You can begin with a direct evaluation.

New York’s direct access provisions allow a licensed physical therapist to evaluate and treat you without a physician referral, for up to 10 visits or 30 days from your first treatment, whichever comes first. If your care should continue beyond that, we will tell you what is needed and help you arrange it. If Medicare is paying for your care, your plan of care also needs to be signed by your physician, which we help arrange. Neither one holds up your first appointment.

How does payment work?

Strength Works PT is credentialed with Medicare and Aetna. Plans differ, so call and we will check yours before anything is booked.

If your plan is not one we bill, or you would rather keep the plan out of it, you can pay for your care directly. Either way you know the cost before the first visit.

What happens during the first in-home physical therapy visit?

Your first visit typically includes a discussion of your symptoms, health history, goals, movement, strength, balance, mobility, and home environment.

Your therapist then begins building a personalized care plan.

Is in-home physical therapy a good fit for older adults?

Yes. In-home physical therapy can be helpful for older adults who have difficulty traveling, worry about falling, or want care focused on their actual home environment.

Your therapist can work on walking, balance, strength, and safer daily movement.

Can you help with pain, surgery recovery, balance issues, and sports injuries?

Yes. Strength Works PT works with patients dealing with chronic pain, orthopedic injuries, post-surgical recovery, balance concerns, mobility limitations, and sports-related injuries.

The right plan depends on your evaluation and individual needs.
