A Target You Can Actually Measure
Most of Nassau is built to be driven. Farmingdale's village core is not, and that turns out to be useful.
A walkable downtown gives recovery something the county rarely offers: a distance you can measure yourself against. Getting the length of Main Street and back, on your own feet, without working out in advance where you will sit down.
"Walk more" is not a plan and neither is a step count. A specific route is.
It has a known distance, known surfaces, a known number of kerbs and crossings, and you already know how it felt last time. That makes it an honest test of whether the plan is working, and a far better one than how you feel doing exercises in a hallway.
The housing around the village is older and varied rather than one postwar pattern. Full staircases in some, half-flights in others, bathrooms on the wrong floor in plenty.
The indoor work and the outdoor goal are the same program. Stairs and transfers make the day possible; walking tolerance makes the street possible.
If you are not certain whether your address falls inside the current service area, call and we will confirm before anything is booked.
Beyond that, an in-home visit does what it does everywhere — it puts the assessment in the house the plan has to work in, and it removes a journey from a week that may already be short of time.

You will know the cost before anything is booked. We confirm a visit time that works around your day, explain how payment works, and tell you whether a physician referral will be needed for the length of care you are likely to need.
See Pricing & How Payment Works →Your therapist reviews your symptoms, strength, movement and what your own day actually asks of you.
Follow-up visits happen at home, and the plan progresses as your tolerance and symptoms change.
Contact us with your address and we will confirm whether it is within the current service area before anything is booked.
Appointments run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., which is designed for exactly this. The times are arranged when you book.
Often, yes. A gradual loss of walking tolerance and balance rarely announces itself — people notice it as doing less rather than as a symptom. An evaluation can tell you whether it is worth working on and what that would take.
Yes. Some patients find a workplace visit easier to fit around their day.
No. You can begin with a direct evaluation.
New York's direct access provisions allow a licensed physical therapist to evaluate and treat you without a physician referral, for up to 10 visits or 30 days from your first treatment, whichever comes first. If your care should continue beyond that, we will tell you what is needed and help you arrange it.
If Medicare is paying for your care, your plan of care also needs to be signed by your physician, which we help arrange. Neither one holds up your first appointment.
Strength Works PT is credentialed with Medicare and Aetna. Plans differ, so call and we will check yours before anything is booked.
If your plan is not one we bill, or you would rather keep the plan out of it, you can pay for your care directly. Either way you know the cost before the first visit.
